Description
Falling In is a solo album by the American singer and songwriter Andrew Carlton, released on Flying Leap Records in 2004.
America does this kind of rock/power pop album really well. Anthemic rockers, gritty chuggers and the occasional head-to-the-sky ballad from a new to the scene singer well worth investigating. Song lyrics are often on the simple theme of keeping focused on the Lord and were clearly written after Andrew experienced the pain of seeing his parents divorce. He said, “My entire concept of home and marriage was shaken. It was by grace alone that I was able to keep my sight on God and his plan.” The experience clearly comes through on the song «Home», a Clapton-esque number enlivened by some tasty guitar work while elsewhere the inspirational «God Sends», influenced by the death of Andrew’s friend is also powerful. Throughout the album the singer’s bluesy vocal chops impress. If you’re on the lookout for melodic pop rock with inspiring lyrics, check this guy out. [Tony Cummings, Cross Rhythms, January 2005]
