Description
The self-titled, sole album by the Norwegian funk/rock group Good News was released on the Norwegian gospel label Joy in 1973. The album was recorded August 16-17 and September 5-11, 1972 by Tore Tveter at Roger Arnhoff Studio in Oslo, Norway; with Asbjørn Ruud and band member Finn Pedersen producing. Arranged by the band with horns arranged by Finn Pedersen.
Two of the album tracks – “Kom, synder, til Herren” and the closing track “Konklusjon” of length almost 9 minutes – were later included on the multi-artist sampler Lukk opp kirkens dører: A selection of Norwegian Christian Jazz, Psych, Funk and Folk 1970-1980 released in Norway on Plastic Strip in April 2011.
Fun fact: The American rapper Pusha T sampled the Good News track “Konklusjonen” on “M.P.A.”, a track featured on the Kanye West produced album King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude released in 2015.
