Nativity

Description

Nativity is an album by the British folk-rock combo Reflection, independently released on Reflection Records in 1971. The album was recorded by Malcolm Jackson at the Jackson Studios in Rickmansworth, England; with Michael Lehr producing.

Reflection is a group of people committed to caring. Not just solo singers, guitarists and other instrumentalists, but artists, writers, composers and poets as well – not to mention those who assist, with secretarial and distribution work. Reflection has evolved gradually over a number of years and this LP is the fourth that its members have produced together.

All songs of this record are to be found in “Faith, Folk and Nativity” (Galliard) except: No Room For Heaven “Faith, Folk and Clarity” (Galliard), Shadow of Calvary – unpublished, To Jesus on His Birthday “Prayer, Praise and Protest” (Mayhew McCrimmon).

REFLECTION 26 Eastbourne Avenue, London W3 [Notes featured on the inside of the gatefold sleeve]

Enter with us the world of Nativity – a world of painful birth, dirty hay, and violent persecution, with the shadow of a final agonising death never far away. Be prepared to be soiled in this world, and bring no pretensions with you to the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. Watch if you like. Even surroundings such as these cannot quench the tenderness of a mother’s love. But look more closely still, for this is no ordinary birth. It is a birth in which you too may have a part to play. And playing it you can become a part of the birth of this child … and part of his life, his death, and his rising. [A note featured on the back of the LP sleeve]
