Step Out of the Night

Description

Step Out of the Night is the fourth studio album by the American pop/soft-rock group Andrus, Blackwood & Company, released on Greentree Records in 1982, distributed by The Benson Company. The album was produced by Phil Johnson.

Sherman Andrus and Terry Blackwood were members of the successful vocal group, The Imperials, when they decided to form their own group in 1977. This is the duo’s fifth album, recorded in 1982 and it is obviously very much of its time with the production sound and prevalence of synths. The duo managed to create a hooky pop sound that also benefited from the touch of soul which the vocals of Andrus brought to the group. Highlights include the hit CCM single title track and the smooth funk of «Live It From Day To Day». The best ballad is their version of «Better Than I Know Myself», made famous over here through Cliff’s version. Ultimately, this is classy ’80s Christian pop music which stands up pretty well.
