Description
Space in Your Face is the sophomore album by the American progressive metal band Galactic Cowboys, released on Geffen Records in June 1993. The album was produced and recorded by Sam Taylor at Rivendell Recorders in Houston, Texas. Mixed by Andy Wallace assisted by Steve Sisco at Quantum Sound Studios in Jersey City, New Jersey.
‘Space in Your Face’ is the second album from the Houston-based Galatic Cowboys. Rawer than their self-titled debut, this album comes out swinging and never stops. Acidic thrash riffs combine with everything from acoustic guitars to Beatlesque harmonies; none of the heaviness is lost in translation. Sitar, tablas, and organ spice up a truly original mix. (There is also something I couldn’t identify on one of the tracks – might be a chicken in the key of D.) There are even elements of progressive metal thrown into «Circles in the Fields», a song which makes the burning statement, “Martha, I wish them kids’d stop messin’ around with my wheat.” The following song, «If I Were a Killer», is one of the neater lyrical turns I’ve seen this year. The band says it’s about relativism – and I guess it is in a larger sense – but see what you think after reading the lyrics. Instead of quoting it, I’ll just let you buy the disc. (HINT, HINT!! GET IT?) [Dave Canfield, Cornerstone Magazine, 1993, Vol 22 Issue 101]

These two tracks were hidden so the band could include two more tracks than Geffen wanted. (The man on the cover of Space in Your Face is David Kitchens, former ranch hand for singer Ben Huggins’ brother-in-law, as he was the only person they could find who fit in the suit.)
