Description
Past the Wishing is the debut album by the American singer and songwriter Sara Groves, independently released on PWMusic in February 1998, and re-issued by INO Records in 2001, distributed in the US by Word Entertainment, a division of Word Music Group. (The album was originally self-released as a gift for Sara’s family and friends. Through word of mouth, the popularity of the album grew, finally coming to rest as a very solid beginning for an emerging artist, re-issued by INO Records.) The album was recorded by Nate Sabin at OrvilleAnne Productions in St. Paul, Minnesota; with David J. Pedde producing. Mixed by Pedde and Sabin at OrvilleAnne.
“Past the Wishing came out Feb. 1, 1998,” Sara Groves recalls, “and two weeks later we got our first call from a record company. So my husband and I started talking to them with the intent to go for it, but the Lord was saying, ‘No.’ So after many months of talking and trying to figure things out, we turned all of the offers down with the understanding that I might just be a local artist the rest of my life.” [Excerpt from an interview features in CCM, April 2001]
