Alive in the Sky

Description

Alive in the Sky is an album by the American singer and songwriter Les Hughey, released on Destiny Records in 1977. The album was produced, recorded, and mixed by Evan Williams of Harvest Flight fame at United Audio in Santa Ana, California. All songs written by Les Hughey.

Soulful guy who unbuckles some lively grooves on his Evan Williams produced record. Alive to The Sky consists of summery melodic tunes with touches of pop, soul, gospel, funk and rock, arranged with piano, guitars, brass, saxophone, synthesizer, rhythm section and female bgvs, all of it carried along by Les’ high-energy vocals. He can definitely pour the juice on when called for, as on «I’m Free» and the seven-minute «Pilate’s Song», both of which feature big enthusiastic electric guitar solos. At the same time his voice brings sensitivity to ballads like «You Need Someone», «Happy Like Larry» and the acoustic title track. Les on piano, electric and acoustic guitars and lead vocals, assisted by seven others. Same small California label that released albums by Harvest Flight and Phoenix Sonshine.
