We Know the Story is the full-length debut album by the British acid jazz/contemporary worship band Phatfish fronted by Lou Fellingham, released in the UK on Survivor Records in July 1997.

Phatfish continue to grow and their latest release sets them taking their music in a worshipful direction and spreading their musical wings into new areas. As you’d imagine, there are plenty of funky acid jazz influences following through the early part of the album but with lyrics that are directed very much God-ward. The up feel of the opening «Extravagant Praise» with its horn stabs and infectious feel is followed quickly by the laid back vibe of «Almighty God» and it is clear that there is something special happening here. Tight, happening, bouncy, joyful. this is how a praise and worship album should sound! From the very strong start, the gorgeous acoustic «Guessing Game» signals a change in the mood of the album. «Wake Up O Sleeper» is almost AOR and then you get «Here Is The Risen Son» and «You Alone Are God» which are more MOR worship fare and a little bland. However, things pick up again with «Release Your Power». A fiery passionate workout followed by an ambient floating coda that leads us into the beautiful prayer «Soften My Heart» crying out for deeper intimacy. The album closes with a psalm like epic «O Most Holy Lord» which synthesises a kaleidoscope of musical styles, beginning with a cello and harp backing for a floating vocal before kicking into a slow, dancy groove and closing with a full choir and organ! Sounds bizarre but it works. Also got to mention the hilarious «Don’t Get Drunk On Wine» which proves the band have a sense of humour! Overall, this set is quite a daring step forward!
