Description
For Him is an album by the American folk-pop duo Tim & Dale (Tim Oertel and Dale Erkel), released on Ark Records in 1970 (??). The album was engineered by Phillip Harris, Al Harkins, and Hugh Davies.
12-string jangly folk/pop never sounded better than on Tim Oertel and Dale Erkel’s delightful LP. Would seem to owe a bit to duos like Chad & Jeremy or the Everly Brothers (particularly the vocal harmonies of the latter). One of those go-go organs even makes a brief appearance on «Jesus Wants You On His Side». More often the style is updated to 1969. «Then I Took Up His Cross» is a good example – an acoustic rural kind of sound with some fine dual guitar extending out to seven minutes. «He’s Life» and «Everlasting Fire» have a touch of that hippie country mentality that the Grateful Dead made popular. Same label as Joe Taylor’s Spirit Light. In fact Joe designed the cool cover. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th Edition]
