Buried at Sea is a five-track CD-EP by the British pop band Lion of Judah, independently released in August 2016.

Bursting through washes of synth, classic electronic drum rhythms introduce us to this five-piece pop outfit from Sussex. Led by the writing and vocal talents of Josh Bannister, there is a definite ’80s vibe to the five tracks on offer on this debut EP. Spry guitars dance over the well-paced title track which leads into the much more rounded «Sufficient For Me». This track highlights some beautifully reflective lyrics and showcases Josh’s ethereal vocals over an evocative, fluid bass. Production is crystal clear as phrases such as “Sufficient for me/ Your grace will be” throw a reflective, current twist on a classic sound. The lower key «Firm Foundation» is stripped back to a vocal/piano lilting delivery that is impressive in its raw honesty and exposes how the project was birthed through Josh’s experiences with anxiety and his realisation that his dependence upon God for everything is a fact. Closing the short set is «The Weight Of Love» where strains of Bastille and The Civil Wars can be heard and a female vocal makes a pleasing counterpoint to the distinctive estuary-tinged delivery of Josh. ‘Buried At Sea’ is an impressive debut from this indie-pop band.
