Description
The Live Studio Concert – labeled Limited Edition, Direct to Disc – is the sixth full-length album by the American singer and songwriter Ron Moore (on this album credited Ron Moore & the Angel Band), independently released on Airborn Records in 1980, a custom label co-founded by Moore and Ed Kilbourne. The album was recorded live on February 16, 1979 before a small studio audience. (The first CCM direct to disc album ever.) All songs written by Ron Moore.
The Live Studio Concert is just that, recorded on February 16, 1979 before a small studio audience (which can be heard clapping between the songs). The Angel Band includes Bill Allen (bass), Kerry Moore (piano), Carmen Acciaioli (pedal steel) and Pat Quinn (drums). Together with Ron’s guitar and piano, they put together a satisfying program of country rock and soft rock. Several songs from Ron’s previous albums are performed, plus debut appearances for «Champion» and «Waiting To Take Her Away». Ron also tosses in a few humor routines for a light-hearted relaxed mood. Recorded direct to disc, no recording tape, no re-mixing. Pressed on blue vinyl and housed in a plain white cover with folded poster insert. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th edition]
