First Things First

Description

First Things First is the debut album by the Canadian singer and songwriter Robert Koenigsberg, released on Jesus The Healer Records in 1977. The album was recorded by Robert Koenigsberg, Dave Marsh, and John Ayers, and was produced by Koenigsberg with Ayers. All songs written by Robert Koenigsberg.

Longhaired rural rock dude with some good west-coast vibes and kind of a Neil Young-ish ‘Heart Of Gold’ flavor. Robert himself plays guitar, drums, percussion, piano and Rhodes, while several other musicians fill in with additional instruments like bass, pedal steel, blues harp, more guitars, more percussion, etc. Even though there are many folks involved, the album retains a nice unpolished feel. Generally an acoustic rock impression, but also some more rugged electric tracks like «Check It Out» and «The Blessings Song». Piano ballads such as «Like No Other Can» and «Walking By Faith» are sincere expressions that fit right in. All twelve songs written by Robert. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th edition]
