Description
Yes, Jesus Loves Me, sub-titled Guitar Hymns, is an instrumental album by the American fingerstyle guitarist and composer John Fahey, released on Takoma Records in 1980. The album was recorded at Gingerbread Studios in Santa Monica, California.
… it’s a concise, stately piece of work, Fahey tapping into blues, classical and even bordering on ragtime guitar… it transcends time and spans agee… grand and full enough to fill the deepest chamber and the grandest dining room, yet intimate enough for a fireside sherry when the kids have gone to bed. If you can’t be touched by this, you can’t be touched by anything. [Jason Draper, Record Collector, December 2007]
Intricate and graceful steel string guitar arrangements played by long-time country blues guitarist-researcher John Fahey includes 22 cuts – definitely more for the money. The tunes here are all traditional, mostly out of the Episcopalian hymnal minus lyrics and include the title cut, «Yes! Jesus Loves Me», «Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus», «Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel», «Holy, Holy, Holy», «Faith Of Our Fathers», «Just As I Am» and others. [CCM (What’s New), January 1981]
