Sojourner’s Song is an album by the American singer and songwriter Buddy Greene, released on Word Records in 1990. The album tracks were recorded by Brent King at Quad Studios in Nashville, Tennessee; with Bubba Smith producing. Mixed by Brent King. Features a cover of Mark Heard‘s “He Will Listen to You”. The album was honored by the Gospel Music Association with the Dove Award for Best Country Album for 1990.

Sojourner is defined by Webster’s dictionary as; one staying temporarily/for a short time. On his debut album for Word, Buddy Greene shows us through songs and stories that we are just spending some time here before we go “Home.”

To say the album is country would be too limiting but basically accurate. There are many of those elements here in place and Greene’s warm, versatile vocals will surprise you if you’re not careful, as he moves away from the bluegrass sound of his last album ‘Slice of Life’, towards a more mainstream country feel.

From ballads like the touching «Suzanne’s Song» (with sweet mandolin), to «How Long» (his delta blues), Greene creates a satisfying, dazzling collection of life pictures here.

For his harmonica fans, Greene, known far and wide for his prowess, does not disappoint with «God Is With Us» and «How Long».
