Written On My Heart

Description

Written On My Heart is the sixth studio album by the American singer and songwriter Tami Gunden, released on Home Sweet Home Records in 1987, manufactured and distributed by Word. The album was recorded by Jake Pittman, Tom Gondolf, Jeff Balding, and John Carey at Gold Mine Studio East in Brentwood, Tennessee; and at Gold Mine Studio and Studio Southwest in Dallas, Texas; with Pittman producing. Mixed by Gondolf and Pittman at Gold Mine Studio and Studio Southwest in Dallas. Half of the songs were co-written by Tami Gunden. Featuring “Not In A Million Years” was written by Glen Allen Green.

Tami Gunden is backed by a session band consisting of Phil Naish on keyboards, Tommy Young on Hammond B-3 organ, Jon Goin on guitar (with Larry Rolando on acoustic guitar), Mike Brignardello on bass, and Mark Hammond on drums, with Ron Jones and Bill Tillman sitting in on saxophone. Additional keyboards by Chris Christian and Jake Pittman. Background vocals provided by Eric Tagg, Tim Sheppard, Glenn Allen Green, Rohn Bailey, Jon Rivers, and Jake Pittman.

For too many years, someone’s been hiding Tami Gunden under a bushel. With two previous projects that held the promise of this one under her belt, Gunden deserves more recognition than she gets. ‘Written on My Heart’ is full of fire, impassioned vocals, and impeccable tunes from a lady whose vocal chords are actually distinguishable from the rest of the pack’s. The title cut is catchy, explosive from the start; side two’s opener, «Hymn of Grace», radically and beautifully changes the pace. Filling out the album are great cuts including «Streets Cry» and the insightful «My Mind Forgets a Million Things». This is a hot pop offering from an innovative song stylist.
