Description

A Dream and a Prayer is a live album by the American folk-duo Ron Case and Phil Butin, released on Delta Records in 1977.

Phil Butin would later release an album with Rich Webster entitled All in All

One of the best acoustic duos I’ve heard featuring clean jangly finger-picked 6 and 12-string guitar, heartfelt harmonies and penetrating melodies that together suggest the artistry of Dan Fogelberg. Vocals complement each other perfectly, though I’d be equally content just to sit back and hear them play guitar. Songs like «The Passing On», «You’re The One For Me», «In Thy Light» and «On The Wings Of A Divine Whisper» have a warm wholesome quality that’s touched with a fragile air of poignancy. Guest contribute additional instruments, including nice electric guitar leads throughout courtesy of Rockwood’s Brad Nelson (especially on «Like A Child»). Mostly a guitar album, although Brad also plays piano on «Lead Me To The Water», while «Alone With You» concludes with a lengthy saxophone solo. Recorded live before an audience at Wheaton College.
