Description
Stained Glass is the third album by the American singer Clay Crosse, released on Reunion Records in 1997, manufactured and distributed by Brentwood Music. Also distributed by BMG Distribution. The album was produced by Mark Heimermann and Regie Hamm.
Yowsa! The man who was born Walter Crosseno has made the biggest leap in style since the day he changed his name! Gone are those almost MOR pop songs and flashy horn parts and in their place a swampy funky sound with smatterings of guitar, loads of atmosphere and a ’90s drum sound. We always knew the boy could sing but placing that big blue eyed soul voice in this new musical setting is one of the revelations of the year! Packed with outstanding songs and strait ahead lyrics that are in your face, ‘Stained Glass’ is the album that should catapult Clay to the top of the pile. From the swamp thang groove of «Something’s Missing» and «Saving The World» to the inspirational message of «Sold Out Believer», this is Clay Crosse at his breathtaking best. A couple of the slower ones will keep his older fans happy, «He Walked A Mile» has already been number one in the USA and «When All That’s Left Is To Believe» will tug a heartstring or two for anyone who’s ever reached absolute rock bottom. Fab album! Should be huge and one of the albums of the year if he’s not overshadowed by new products from Michael W and Amy/Gary! [Mike Rimmer, Cross Rhythms, August 1995]
