My Place is With You

Description

My Place is With You is the debut album by the American singer Clay Crosse, released on Reunion Records in 1993, distributed by Word. The album was recorded June 7 through September 19, 1993 by Leon Johnson at Sound Stage Studios in Nashville, Tennessee; at Preferred Sound in Woodland Hills, California; and at Cornerstone Studios in Chatsworth, California; with Peter Bunetta and Rick Chudacoff producing for Ripe Productions. Mixed by Johnson at Cornerstone Studios. Featuring “One Heart”, a duet with label mate Kathy Troccoli. Clay Crosse won the Dove Award for New Artist of the Year at the 25th GMA Dove Awards in 1994.

A fine debut indeed with all the class you’d expect from the Peter Bunetta and Rick Chadacoff (Michael Bolton, Kenny G etc) production team, a set of songs that have clearly been hand-picked for quality and a voice that has enough soul licks to ooze passion but enough control and sensitivity to caress the tenderest ballad. Standouts are the funky, radio friendly «Give Him Roots» and the inspirational ballad duet with Kathy Troccoli «One Heart» but from stem to stern ‘My Place Is With You’ is an outstanding pop gospel album.
