Signature is the seventh album by the American singer and songwriter Scott Wesley Brown, released on Sparrow Record in 1982. The album was engineered by Jack Joseph Puig with Dan Collins producing. Arranged by Lee Holdridge. All songs written by Scott Wesley Brown except “Within His Joy” written by Tom Hosman.
Featuring guest vocals by Amy Grant, Gary Chapman, Kathy Troccoli, Marty McCall of Fireworks fame, Kelly Willard, as well as producer Dan Collins and his wife Jamie Owens-Collins. Also featuring The National Philharmonic Orchestra of London conducted by Phil Perkins.
Scott Wesley Brown is a very sensitive songwriter. The songs on his new album, ‘Signature’ (Sparrow SPR-1061), reflects a peace and strength in the Lord, gained through years of the maturing process. Scott knows who sustains him through problems («He Will Carry You»). He believes in the omnipotence of God («There Is Power» and «It Ain’t Magic»), expressing it through faith in the Word as opposed to human emotions («Feelings»).
The singers and musicians who have joined with Scott on ‘Signature’ read like the proverbial “who’s who” in ccm. Amy Grant, Gary Chapman, Marty McCall, and Kelly Willard, along with producer Dan Collins and his wife Jamie Owens-Collins, added their vocal talents to Scott’s, creating a smooth sound.
The National Philharmonic of London, under the direction of Phil Perkins and Lee Holdridge, built the large orchestral backdrop that stands solidly behind the mellow overall sound of the album. Peppy percussion provided by Alex Acuna, however, adds some spice to the tracks, bringin the album up to a soft-contemporary listening level.
