Description
Requiem for a Nobody, sub-titled A Theatre or Sanctuary Piece for Adult/Youth Choirs and Soloists, is a musical written and arranged by the Canadian composer Tedd Smith (also known as Billy Graham’s pianist), released on Light Records in 1973. Musical direction by Ralph Carmichael and Tedd Smith. Orchestrations by Lennie Niehaus with Bill Cole producing. All songs written by Tedd Smith.
“Requiem For a Nobody” is a contemporary musical written by Tedd Smith. Musical direction was by both Ralph Carmichael and Tedd Smith, with Tedd’s arrangements plus orchestrations by Lennie Niehaus. Solos featured the voices of Jerry Whitman, Billy Thedford, Carol Carmichael, and Diana Lee. This is the complete project that was released on Light Records.
From soulful electric rockers to edgy flowers-in-your-hair pop/MOR, with a few eerie Gregorian chant-style moods in between, Requiem For A Nobody may well be Tedd Smith’s finest hour. Fuzz guitar seems to be liberally strewn throughout, cropping up on tracks like «It’s Gonna Be All Right», «See How They Run», the organ-cooker «Why Can’t We Love One Another» and the recurring «Requiem/Help Wanted» theme. Mysterious string orchestration in places, lifting gentle songs like «Remember Me» into fragile pop-psych realms. Solo vocals by Jerry Whitman, Billy Thedford, Carol Carmichael and Dianna Lee.
