Evie Sings Gospel is the debut album by the Norwegian-American singer Evie (Evelyn Tornquist Karlsson, née Tornquist), released on Majestic Recordings in 1970, a New Jersey based gospel label, the home state of Evie. The album was recorded at Baldwin Sound Productions with Don Storms producing.
Evie Sings Gospel was released when Evie Tornquist was only 14 years old. Born in the United States to Norwegian immigrants in 1956, Evie began her singing career as a young teenager while visiting her parents’ homeland. She first appeared on a live broadcasting at NRK (the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation), only 14 years old. (Back in the day NRK was actually the country’s sole television & radio broadcaster.)
